A practical checklist before a professional photo shoot: purpose, wardrobe, location, lighting and delivery formats for business use.

Start with the purpose
A professional photo shoot succeeds or fails before the camera is switched on. Website, LinkedIn, press, recruitment and social posts each need different crop, background and tone. Media7 begins every session with a short brief: where the pictures will live, who will appear, and what the brand should feel like.
Check the location the day before
A quiet room with controlled light is enough for executive portraits. Factory, restaurant or office process shots look more credible in the real workplace. Window direction, messy cables, whiteboards and leftover logos should be cleaned before the crew arrives.
Wardrobe
Simple, darker clothing usually keeps attention on the face and the brand. Large sports logos, busy patterns and shiny accessories compete with the subject. Glasses need a planned lighting angle. A spare shirt and a small steamer save the day more often than a new lens.
Light and timing
Midday office windows can throw hard shadows. Morning or late-afternoon light is kinder. Studio lighting is less time-critical, but tired faces still show. A focused 60–90 minute session often beats a three-hour marathon.
On the day
Have a call sheet and usage consent ready. Conversation, real work gestures and short pauses look more trustworthy than a frozen smile. We usually shoot wide, then medium, then close, so the same person can be cropped for the website, media kits and vertical social frames.
Select, then retouch
The second half of the job is editing. You do not need two hundred finished files. Fifteen to thirty hero frames, lightly graded, are more useful. Heavy retouching makes people unrecognisable and weakens trust.
Checklist
Purpose, location, wardrobe, light, consent and formats. When those six points are agreed, a professional photo shoot is faster and the pictures actually get used. Media7 can run photography on its own or on the same day as video production.
